Top Dog

Trophy

"If you can't run with the Big Dogs, don't get off the porch!"

Established January 06, 2001

Each Saturday, the Peachtree City Running Club meets to do their weekly "fun" run. About 30 to 40 runners come out to do this run. These are fanatical, occasional, slow and fast runners and even some walkers. The great thing about these runs is that everyone can find a group to run or walk with. The lead group on these Saturday runs are often called the big dogs. These big dogs are not necessarily the fastest runners in the Club, but they do come out every Saturday and tend to set the pace for the lead group on the Saturday runs. Some would say they were not the smartest in training. "Let the big dogs run," they would taunt.

Running on this Saturday, big dog Normer Adams comes up with the idea of an award for top dog for the big dogs. The big dog pack of Ed Finucan, Bill Anderson, and Trish Vlastnik howled in excitement about this idea. Even dogs have rules, so rules were determined and an award chosen.
